Notice of Service Disruption

Dear Patients,

We regret to inform you that due to a global IT outage affecting clinical systems, many medical practices, including ours, are currently experiencing disruptions. This incident has impacted various administrative and clinical functions.

Impact on Services:

  • Appointments: There may be delays in scheduling and processing appointments – we can only accept emergency contacts today.
  • Prescriptions: Processing and issuing repeat prescriptions might take longer than usual as we have no access to electronic prescribing.
  • Communications: Our online patient portals are experiencing intermittent issues. We are unable to process online queries at this time.

Emergency Contacts:

  • For urgent medical concerns, please contact our emergency line at 999.
  • Please limit contact with the practice to essential services only.
  • For non-emergency medical advice, please contact NHS 111.

Lunchtime update:

  1. The status of phlebotomy/imaging for NELFT and BHRUT: BHRUT currently has no imaging or pathology access and is closed to ambulances except for cardiac arrests. NELFT has closed phlebotomy until Wednesday but will reopen sooner if able.
  2. 111 has suspended direct booking into GP practices, hubs and pharmacies but patients may be advised to contact their practice if it is a same day need.
  3. Community pharmacy are also affected and are unable to access the spine. Urgent prescriptions need to be issued manually by FP10.  Where possible allow some capacity to deal with pharmacy calls for urgent prescriptions they have received.
    1. Pharmacies are able to access historic prescription records and the NHS App is available to some patients and both of these may help clinicians issuing prescriptions today.
  4. Urgent referrals such as 2ww need to be held documented today and sent on Monday assuming IT is restored by then.

We are working closely with our IT partners and healthcare authorities to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Thank you, Fountayne Road Medical Practice

Wait well, stay well

If you, or someone you care for, is waiting for treatment or a procedure, we recognise that this is difficult, NHS staff are working hard to get everyone seen as quickly as possible. We are currently prioritising people with the highest clinical need, and who have been waiting the longest.

We understand the wait might be stressful, especially if your condition is causing you pain, or stopping you from carrying out day-to-day activities and that you may have concerns. That is why we have created this website.

Form filling and non NHS medical examinations

If you require the GP to complete a form on your behalf you must allow five working days. As form filling is not an emergency service patients must leave their forms with the receptionist and collect after the date stated by the receptionist.

Our receptionist can only assist patients with form filling if you have pre-arranged a time when there is more than one receptionist on duty. When there is only receptionist on duty or at busy times the receptionists will not be available to help you complete any forms.

You can also make an appointment with Citizens Advice Bureau for help with form filling.

Medical examinations that is not covered by the NHS. Patients will requiring a non NHS medical be offered the next routine appointment with the GP (no urgent appointments are available for this service).

For all non NHS examinations there will be a fee payable.
